Pool Safety

PLEASE BE SURE TO LET YOUR SWIMMERS KNOW THAT THEY ARE NOT TO TOUCH OR PLAY WITH THE FOUR WATER SKIMMERS AROUND THE POOL - THESE SKIMMERS MUST BE WORKING PROPERLY TO ENSURE THAT THE WATER IS BEING PROPERLY FILTERED AND IS SAFE TO SWIM IN.

From Dave Miller (pool maintenance);

We have had an unusual high occurrence rate of damage to the skimmer weirs (the plastic bottom hinged white doors that trap surface debris in the white baskets at the four corners of the pool) so far in this start of this swimming season. They are being pulled out of the four pool corner water return opening locations and getting broken or losing parts. If parts do get lost or they become severely damaged, we have to buy new ones at the rate of $18.00 each. So far this short season, I have had to repair 5 weirs and replace 1. The problem is more severe at the shallow end of the pool near the steps. I suspect that young swimmers are getting into them with their hands or toys while they play. This is not only an issue of only repair and replacement, but more importantly it is an issue of safety in that small children could get their arm or hands trapped in them and potentially get their head under the water. This is an unsafe act and can not be tolerated. The weirs in place, should not be touched by anyone and especially not by our younger swimmers. If broken weirs are discovered, all of the pieces should be gathered up and placed in front of the pump room door so we can repair or replace them.

Would you please send out an email to all pool members advising them of the dangers of this action and that all Moms, Dads and Grand Parents, etc. need to be more attentive with their children while they are at the pool, and especially at times when their is no Life Guard on duty.

THANKS FOR HELPING TO KEEP OUR POOL SAFE AND CLEAN,
Shelly
